If you did your fingerprints appointment at Rambla Guipuzcoa 74 (Barcelona) then you will have to collect your TIE at Calle Mallorca 213 (Barcelona).

Throughout 2025, collecting your TIE there did not require an appointment. You could simply go to the office, wait in line, and pick up your card. Well, that period is over. As of 2026, the National Police has reinstated the mandatory appointment to collect the TIE card at Calle Mallorca 213.

There is no option to change the pickup location. If your biometrics were done in Rambla Guipúzcoa 74, the card will be delivered to Calle Mallorca 213 without exception.

How to Book the Appointment
You must book the appointment on the official Extranjería appointments website.

Follow this path:

  1. Barcelona
  2. Oficina Mallorca 213
  3. Recogida de Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero

As mentioned above, this requirement applies exclusively to people whose fingerprints were taken at Rambla Guipúzcoa, 74. If you completed your fingerprint appointment at any other police station, the process remains the same as before:

  • You usually pick up your TIE in +/- 30 days
  • No appointment is required
  • Just go to the same police station where you did your fingerprints and collect the card

However, if you did your fingerpritns at another police station, it is better to always ask which is the procedure for collecting the TIE.

How long does the TIE take to be ready?

In Barcelona, TIE cards are generally ready 30-40 days after your fingerprint appointment. The reason for this delay is that all cards are printed in Madrid and then sent back to the issuing office.

Documents you must bring

  • The fingerprint receipt (“resguardo”)
  • Your original valid passport
  • Your previous TIE (if you had one)

Once inside, the officer will check your documents and confirm your fingerprints again.

Special rules for minors

  • Only you can collect your own TIE. No one else is allowed to collect it for you.
  • Minors under 6 years old do not need to go in person. A parent or legal guardian may pick it up on their behalf, bringing oficial documentation proving the relationship.

How to check if your TIE is ready

You can track your TIE status by verifying the batch number (lote) online.

  • Scan the QR code found on your fingerprint receipt
  • The website will show the latest available batch number
  • If the number displayed is the same or higher than the lote on your receipt, your TIE is ready for
    collection.

If you have any questions or need guidance at any stage of the process, don’t hesitate to contact NIE Barcelona. We will be more than happy to assist you.
